Music

Music exists everywhere. People all over the world listen to a variety of music because it speaks to them. Music creates a mood or a feeling within the listener. A quote from a popular TV show states: “Every song has a CODA, a final movement. Whether it fades out or crashes away. Every song ends. Is that any reason not to enjoy the music? The truth is, there is nothing to be afraid of. It's just life.” This quote exemplifies how music influences the way a person lives and views life. Music influences the way a person feels; helping them feel their emotions to the fullest extent. Music acts as therapy for the curveballs that life throws at you.

The Pop/R&B culture in America is definately predominant over all other types of music. Popular artists of today include Alicia Keys, Fergie, Rihanna, Kayne West, Chris Brown, Beyonce and Britney Spears. Rock and country music have been making comebacks in popularity. Needless to say, music in America is very popular and powerful in the lives of people, especially the teenagers.

Music creates an abundance of emotion within people. Groups are formed through their love of music. Friends and cliques forming from people listening to the similar music becomes more common day to day. Kids and adults alike love to attend concerts of their favorite artists. Music brings about many emotions. The "baby boomers" generation have a great dislike for rap music because they claim that it can cause violence, while the teenagers of our generation claim that the rap music emotionally saved them from violence. Music is very influential within our soceity and helps to form our culture.

In each country around the world, people listen to music; it’s a part of their culture. Whether it is the tribal rituals with the natives, salsa dancing at a sweet 15, or country line dancing in the deep south, everyone dances to the music. Music is a big part of our culture in the United States. We listen to all different genres, sometimes depending on the geographical region. We would love to know what you guys are listening to. Some of our best artists come from overseas, so do you guys have people that you are listening to that we would like as well? This is a great way for us to interact, see our similarities and differences in culture and music.
